10 Questions to Ask as You Begin the New Year

Begin this year with new discoveries by asking yourself these revealing questions:

Who pushes my buttons, and what are they? Become aware of which people or situations cause you to react, and then practice non-reactive living, staying centered instead of being swept up in energy-draining dramas.

Where is my focus? For example, before falling asleep, think of how comfortable the bed, sheets, and pillow feel instead of how tired you are. It helps set the tone for the rest of the night and how rested you may feel in the morning. Remember, whatever you focus on, you increase.

How can I change the world from my living room couch? Every step you take toward helping or serving anyone, you take toward helping and serving the world.

What am I missing? Find simple ways to remind yourself of the present moment, like listening for sounds that are already there.

What have I learned from last year? Sit quietly and reflect on this question, making a commitment to being open and honest with yourself about the answer.

What can I teach? We all have unique experiences and talents. Make your career – and your life - more fulfilling by finding a way to share yours with others.

Who is my resolution for? Often, we create resolutions based on things others in our lives want, not us personally. If it's not something that you don't want for you, you will never follow through with it.

Where are my lemons? Keep your eyes open for “mistakes,” that is where many opportunities lie.

What are you waiting for? Life can end at any moment, and without warning. What is the one thing you would regret not doing if your life were to end right now?

Love it or let it go? If a relationship is draining energy from your life, decide whether or not you want to work on it, or let it go. Then go to that person, get the ball rolling.
